I will be giving this card to my 95-year-old Mother-in-Law Harriett Scott who is in Hospice care facility.
Mom - Harriett Scott - Taken in 2008
My MIL is truly a Chick that Ruled. She was one of the first women to receive her flying license in the 1930's - and served in the Civil Air Patrol. She worked on the line in the factory for General Motors, as well as during the war. She went through the Great Depression Era, but was blessed to be living on a farm where she had adequate food supply. She loved to travel and made several trips to Russian and Ireland. She was active in planting and caring for a huge vegetable and flower gardens her entire life. She canned her own food, made her own butter and cooked with lard [one of her favorite ingredients]. She sewed and crocheted. Harriett, was on several bowling teams for many years as well as a active golfer. She attended and was active at the local Senior Citizens center for decades.

She gave birth to 3 children; Robert, Rick[my husband], and Linda.

In February this year, the Lord provided another opportunity for me to lead her to Jesus as she laid in a hospital bed in the local hospital with the assistance of oxygen. This time she accepted Jesus as her Savior.

It is a difficult time for us as we watch our mom going through the dying process. However, we are blessed knowing that when she leaves this earth she will be with Jesus and we will see her once again at our final home - Heaven.

Life is truly a short journey on earth, Cherish each day and live it to the fullest. Rick  and I wish you a Happy Resurrection Sunday. Thank you for stopping by my blog today.

Seems entirely fitting that it should be created with such a choice lady in mind....she sounds awesome! How blessed we are to have such strong, capable and faithful women as our role models. Have a blessed Easter day with your lovely family. x

  3. Hi Gail, your mother-in-law sounds like an amazing lady with fabulous life experience. My gran will be 95 this year and is also in bad health so I know how you are feeling watching your loved one and not being able to do anything to help take away the pain. I am sure Harriett will be absolutely delighted with your beautiful card and good luck with the challenges.

  7. Thanks for sharing the story of your MIL. From one pilot to another she has had an active life. We went thru same thing with my hubby's mother when had moved from FL to live here in TX. She ended up living in assisted living before she died. Unfortunately while she was living here in TX she did not take part in activities involving my daughter and us by her own choosing so we have fewer memories of times spent with her.
